In HyperGrid, your wallet isn't just a payment method – it's your permanent gaming identity. Once connected, your wallet address becomes your unique identifier across all games, leaderboards, and earnings. This Web3 approach means you truly own your gaming history and achievements.

Important: Choose your wallet carefully. Once established, your gaming history cannot be transferred to a different wallet address.

Why Connect a Wallet?​

With Wallet Connected:​

  • Earn real Grid Points (GP) that persist forever
  • Compete in wager-based Arenas and Matches
  • Build permanent career statistics
  • Appear on global leaderboards

Without Wallet (Anonymous Play):​

  • Play practice modes only
  • GP earned doesn't persist between sessions
  • No access to real-money competitions
  • Progress resets when you leave
  • Good for learning, not for earning

Setting Up Your Wallet​

Step 1: Get a Web3 Wallet​

Popular options include:

  • MetaMask (recommended)
  • Rainbow Wallet
  • WalletConnect compatible wallets

Step 2: Fund Your Wallet​

You'll need:

  • HYPE tokens for gas fees on HyperEVM
  • USD0 tokens for game wagers

Use our built-in bridge to easily transfer funds to HyperEVM (Chain ID: 998).

Step 3: Connect to HyperGrid​

  1. Click "Connect Wallet" in the top navigation
  2. Select your wallet provider
  3. Sign the authentication message (free, no gas)
  4. Choose your username (first-time users only)

How Smart Contracts Protect You​

Your Funds, Your Control​

  • Each game deploys its own smart contract
  • Contracts only hold funds for that specific game
  • You maintain custody until you join a game
  • Direct claiming available even if platform is down

Automatic Refund Protection​

During beta, if a game fails to settle properly:

  • 100% refund guaranteed via smart contract
  • Claim directly from contract or through platform
  • No questions asked, no waiting periods

Settlement Transparency​

When a game completes:

  • Leaderboard determines prize distribution
  • Wager rules are immutable once game starts
  • Winners paid according to preset percentages
  • All transactions visible on blockchain

Quick Setup Checklist​

  • Install Web3 wallet (MetaMask recommended)
  • Add HyperEVM network (Chain ID: 998)
  • Bridge HYPE for gas (use platform bridge)
  • Get USD0 for wagers (if playing paid games)
  • Connect wallet to HyperGrid
  • Sign authentication message
  • Choose permanent username

Troubleshooting​

Wrong Network Error: Switch to HyperEVM in your wallet. The platform will prompt you to add it if missing.

Cannot See USD0 Balance: Add USD0 token address to your wallet: 0xd0d06b9d9a9b0c0b97169293f6c72f0f7e50bb02

Transaction Failed: Ensure you have enough HYPE for gas and USD0 for the wager amount.

Game Did Not Settle: Use the "Claim Refund" button or interact directly with the game contract to retrieve your wager.
