Game Modes Guide: Understanding HyperGrid Configurations

Reading Preset IDs

Every game has a unique ID telling you exactly what you're playing: [TYPE]_[MODE]_[PACE]_[MARKET]_[DURATION]

Example: ARENA_RANKED_30S_BTC_4H

  • TYPE: Arena (continuous) or Match (synchronized)
  • MODE: Ranked (wager) or Practice (free)
  • PACE: 3s, 10s, or 30s rounds
  • MARKET: BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, DOGE, HYPE
  • DURATION: 15m, 1h, 4h, or 24h (Arena only)

How it works: Each element changes the game fundamentally. Arena allows rolling entry over hours while Match requires all players to start together. Ranked costs money but earns permanent GP, Practice is free but temporary.

Game Pace Options

3-Second Rounds

  • Pure instinct gameplay
  • No time for analysis
  • 60+ rounds possible in 15 minutes
  • Highest risk/reward ratio

How it works: Both MOVEMENT and LOCKED phases last 3 seconds. You have 3 seconds to choose your platform, 3 seconds to watch the price. Pure reaction-based gameplay.

Strategic impact: Favors pattern recognition and instinct over analysis. Mistakes cascade quickly but recovery is also fast. Best for players who trust their gut.

10-Second Rounds

  • Balance of speed and strategy
  • Time for quick analysis
  • 30-50 rounds in 15 minutes
  • Most popular pace

How it works: 10 seconds to move and position, 10 seconds watching price movement. Enough time to check enemy positions and recent patterns.

Strategic impact: Sweet spot for most players. Fast enough for excitement, slow enough for strategy. Allows both instinctive and analytical play styles.

30-Second Rounds

  • Strategic, thoughtful gameplay
  • Full analysis possible
  • 15-25 rounds in 15 minutes
  • Each decision critical

How it works: 30 seconds per phase gives time to study heat maps, plan chip usage, and analyze patterns. More chess than reflexes.

Strategic impact: Rewards careful planning and pattern analysis. Fewer total rounds means each mistake hurts more, but also more time to maintain streaks.

Arena Mode Durations

15-Minute Arena

  • Entry pool: 5-50 typical
  • Prize pool: $4-40
  • Competition: Local, consistent players
  • Best for: Quick sessions, strategy testing

How it works: Shortest Arena cycle. Same players throughout, minimal timezone overlap. Fast results.

Strategic impact: Easier to place high with fewer entries. Good for learning without major time commitment. Lower total prizes but better odds.

1-Hour Arena

  • Entry pool: 50-200
  • Prize pool: $40-170
  • Competition: Regional overlap
  • Best for: Focused sessions

How it works: Spans typical gaming sessions. Some player turnover as people enter at different times within the hour.

Strategic impact: Balance of competition and prize size. Multiple entry opportunities to climb leaderboard. Peak lunch and break times see surges.

4-Hour Arena

  • Entry pool: 200-1000
  • Prize pool: $170-850
  • Competition: Cross-timezone
  • Best for: Serious competition

How it works: Covers multiple time zones' peak hours. Morning players compete against evening players from other regions.

Strategic impact: Time zone arbitrage possible - enter during your local off-peak to face less competition. Bigger prizes but tougher field.

24-Hour Arena

  • Entry pool: 1000-5000+
  • Prize pool: $850-4250+
  • Competition: Global field
  • Best for: Maximum earnings, weekend play

How it works: Full daily cycle captures every timezone. Massive player pools and prize money. True test of consistency.

Strategic impact: Enter multiple times across different hours. Off-peak entries face easier competition but peak hours offer more GP from player interactions.

Match Mode Structure

Key Differences from Arena

  • Fixed player count: 2-12
  • Synchronized start/end
  • Duration: 5-15 minutes typical
  • Real-time combat on same grid

How it works: Host creates room, sets parameters, players join. Everyone starts simultaneously with 10 lives. Match ends when one player remains or time limit reached.

Strategic impact: Pure PvP competition. You see every opponent, every move matters. No hiding in the crowd like Arena. Winner determined immediately.

Host Configuration

  • Entry wagers: $1 minimum, typically $1, $5, $25, or $100
  • Prize distribution options:
    • Winner-take-all (90% to 1st)
    • Top 3 (50/30/10 split)
    • Top 50% (graduated)
    • Custom splits

How it works: Host sets all parameters and takes automatic 5% fee. Players see full terms before joining. No changes after first player joins.

Strategic impact: Higher entry wagers create different dynamics. Winner-take-all encourages aggressive play. Top 3 rewards survival. Choose matches matching your risk tolerance.

Market Selection

Transaction Frequency Impact

Markets differ by transaction frequency, not price volatility:

BTC: Highest frequency

  • Constant micro-movements
  • Most GP opportunities
  • Rapid price updates

ETH: Moderate frequency

  • Steady prediction rhythm
  • Balanced gameplay

SOL/XRP/DOGE: Burst patterns

  • Quiet periods then surges
  • High variance gameplay

HYPE: Platform token

  • Unique patterns
  • Community-driven movement

How it works: Higher transaction frequency means more price updates per round, creating more dynamic predictions and volatility bonuses.

Strategic impact: BTC suits players who can process rapid information. ETH offers stability. Meme coins reward patience and timing. Choose based on your reaction speed and style.

Time Zone Strategy

Peak vs Off-Peak Hours

Peak (8-11 PM local):

  • Maximum players online
  • Crowded grids
  • More PvP interactions
  • Higher GP potential

Off-Peak (3-7 AM local):

  • Fewer active players
  • Easier territory building
  • Less competition
  • Lower maximum scores

How it works: Player density directly affects gameplay. Busy grids mean more attacks on your gold but also more targets for your chips.

Strategic impact: Enter off-peak for consistent, safe scoring. Enter peak hours for high-risk, high-reward play. Smart players do both within the same Arena duration.
